Cleaning House by Kay Wills Wyma: Rid Your Home of Youth Entitlement

Mom, I REALLY need (fill in the blank) and it’s only $9.99!  Can I get it? PLEASE?!

Just reading the above makes me want to roll my eyes, but it is a refrain heard often in my house.  My attempts at chores and allowances have been inconsistent at best and complete failures at worst. I decided to seek out guidance and found a gem of a book.

#struggles by Craig Groeschel: Put Technology in its Place

Whether you are 15 or 65, odds are technology has a significant role in your life.

Do you break out in a cold sweat when you realize you left your cell at home? Does your heart skip a beat when you hear the ‘ding-a-lee-ding’ announcing your latest text or post like? Are you spending half your morning getting ready for your day and the other half trying to capture it in the perfect selfie? Do you go out with others only to realize part way through your time together, that you are all on your phones?  Technology isn’t going away.  I don’t want it too.

The Great Divorce: Allegory by C.S. Lewis

C.S. Lewis is one smart cookie!

I read The Great Divorce with a group of wonderful ladies and was so glad to have their input to aid my understanding.  It is an interesting story at face value, but the symbolism and metaphor in Lewis’ allegory are wonderful.  The narrator takes you with him as he journeys through the afterlife in search of Heaven.
